How Warframe is building upon its most heartbreaking quest in a continuation “no one saw coming”
Warframe is continuing one of its most acclaimed questlines with “Jade Shadows: Constellations,” a new Narrative Chapter launching June 17, 2026. The original Jade Shadows quest, released roughly two years ago, gained praise for its emotional depth, exploring themes of fatherhood and featuring a tragic death with an ending inspired by the film Children of Men. It stood out among Warframe’s typical intermission quests as a particularly poignant narrative moment.
The continuation takes an unexpected direction by introducing the game’s 65th Warframe as a dual-character system where players can switch between two complementary Warframes named Sirius and Orion—sibling rivals that form the narrative core. According to Creative Director Rebecca Ford, the design of these complementary characters was inspired by Super Smash Bros., with the switching mechanics opening new gameplay possibilities previously unseen in Warframe.
Beyond the new dual Warframes, the update introduces Ryoku’s Railjack feature and the long-awaited Stug Incarnon weapon variant. Digital Extremes has positioned this narrative chapter as unlike anything Warframe players have experienced before, marking a significant evolution of the game’s storytelling structure.
