Windows 11 Search will soon see through your typos and actually find what you’re looking for
Microsoft is enhancing Windows 11 Search functionality with improved typo tolerance, addressing a common user frustration when searching for files and applications. The new feature, introduced in Insider Experimental Preview Build 26300.8687, enables Search to understand queries despite common typing errors including dropped letters, extra letters, and partial words. For example, a misspelled search term like “utlook” will still successfully locate the Outlook application.
This improvement represents Microsoft’s ongoing effort to make Windows 11 more user-friendly and efficient for both casual users and professionals who frequently search their systems for files and applications. The forgiving search algorithm is designed to reduce user frustration caused by minor typos, which previously could result in failed searches requiring users to retype their queries.
