3D Realms Co-Founder Believes Layoffs Have Begun At Zenimax Studios
Zenimax Studios, a major first-party developer for Xbox, is reportedly experiencing layoffs, according to statements from 3D Realms and Apogee co-founder George Broussard. Broussard shared the information on social media, stating that he had received word that “layoffs at Zenimax has begun” and that the cuts “may be much deeper than you expect.”
The layoffs at Zenimax represent the latest in a series of workforce reductions across Xbox’s first-party studios. According to circulating reports, the company is prioritizing resources for major franchises, with employees not actively working on Fallout or The Elder Scrolls reportedly facing potential layoffs.
Zenimax Studios, owned by Microsoft, is responsible for developing several cornerstone gaming properties including the Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises, which represent significant portions of Xbox’s first-party portfolio.
