Mods Enable Bloodborne to Run on PS5 at 120 FPS and Super High Resolution
A modder known as Christina has created patches enabling FromSoftware’s Bloodborne to run on PlayStation 5 with dramatically improved performance and visual quality. According to testing by Digital Foundry, the modifications unlock enhanced frame rates and resolution capabilities for PS4 games running on PS5 hardware.
The modded version runs Bloodborne at a locked 60 frames per second in 4K resolution, with even the game’s user interface elements rendering at native 4K quality. The patches also enable 120 Hz refresh rate support on compatible displays with variable refresh rate (VRR) enabled, elevating the nearly decade-old PS4 exclusive to performance levels that fans have long requested.
This unofficial enhancement arrives as players continue to hope for an official remaster or remake from Sony or FromSoftware. While a remake proposal has been pitched to developers previously, no official remaster has materialized. For players with modified PS5 consoles, Christina’s mod represents the closest available experience to what a commercially released “Bloodborne Remastered” might offer.
The work underscores ongoing community efforts to preserve and enhance beloved games when official publishers decline to do so. However, the mod requires a hacked or jailbroken PS5 console, limiting accessibility to a specific segment of players.
