D&D-inspired Critical Role’s homegrown videogame is coming along well, says Laura Bailey: ‘There’s a lot of work being done’
Critical Role, the Dungeons & Dragons livestream megafranchise, is developing its own video game set in Exandria, the world featured in their streams. The project is being created in partnership with AdHoc, the studio that previously collaborated with Critical Role on the superhero management simulation Dispatch.
The partnership was announced in July 2024, marking a significant expansion of Critical Role’s multimedia presence beyond streaming and their Amazon Prime video adaptation. The project represents a natural evolution for the franchise, which has achieved substantial success and funding through its multiple media ventures.
Critical Role CEO Travis Willingham celebrated the crystallization of the game project in 2024. More recently, cast member Laura Bailey provided an update on development progress, stating “There’s a lot of work being done,” confirming that active development is underway. The game adds another layer to Critical Role’s ambitious franchise expansion strategy.
