Xbox’s Confusing Exclusivity Criteria Now Aided by ‘EXCLUSIVE’ Label on Console Dashboard
Xbox has introduced a new “EXCLUSIVE” label on its Series X/S dashboard to clearly mark console exclusive titles and reduce consumer confusion about game availability. Gears of War: E-Day, launching October 6, and Clockwork Revolution, set to arrive in 2027, will both carry the exclusive designation, confirming they will not release on PlayStation 5—reversing previous plans for multiplatform launches.
The labeling system functions similarly to existing dashboard indicators that denote optimization status, Game Pass availability, or service memberships. By prominently displaying the exclusive badge, Xbox aims to help players quickly identify which titles are limited to their platform versus those available on competing systems.
This move reflects Xbox’s ongoing efforts to clarify its exclusivity strategy, which has become increasingly nuanced as Microsoft has shifted toward releasing major titles across multiple platforms in recent years.
