Hot off the Guild Wars 3 reveal, the long-running MMO series is getting its first-ever CCG in Mistbound

ArenaNet’s legendary Guild Wars MMO series is expanding into the collectible card game (CCG) genre for the first time with the announcement of Mistbound: Guild Wars Card Game. The free-to-play title is coming to PC and mobile platforms and represents an unusual collaborative effort involving three companies.

The game is developed by Korean studio NC (formerly NCSoft), published by bilibili (the Chinese equivalent of YouTube), and licensed from ArenaNet. Set in the Guild Wars universe, specifically the world of Tyria, Mistbound will feature characters, creatures, and sounds familiar to the franchise.

According to ArenaNet studio head Colin Johanson, the game aims to offer Guild Wars fans a fresh competitive experience: “We felt it was time to give Guild Wars fans a new way to play together, inspired by the card game roots of the franchise, where they could compete in a competitive PvP arena in a CCG game space.”

The announcement comes shortly after ArenaNet revealed Guild Wars 3, signaling an ambitious expansion period for the long-running MMO franchise. While Guild Wars has maintained a devoted player base for nearly two decades, Mistbound marks its official entry into the CCG space, potentially attracting both existing fans and new players interested in the franchise’s lore and competitive gameplay.
