Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall Exclusive Trailer and Voice Cast Revealed
DC and Warner Bros. Animation are bringing one of comics’ most influential Batman storylines to the screen with a new animated trilogy. The first film, Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and will release later in 2026. Directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams, the film faithfully adapts the landmark 1993-1994 comic arc that introduced the supervillain Bane.
The trilogy marks a significant departure from typical Batman films, earning an R rating with graphic violence and “really messy deaths” seldom seen in Dark Knight adaptations. While Batman films spanning from Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman through Matt Reeves’ 2022 The Batman have maintained PG-13 ratings, this new trilogy embraces the darker, more violent tone of the source material, where Bane infamously breaks Batman both physically and psychologically.
The first installment features Anson Mount as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Michael Mando as the steroid-enhanced villain Bane. Produced by DC, Warner Bros. Animation, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the trilogy adapts the classic storyline originally created by Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Dennis O’Neil, Peter David, Jo Duffy, Jim Aparo, Graham Nolan, Norm Breyfogle, and Jim Balen.
