Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Gets Free Update Alongside Skitarii Class, Adds a New Enemy
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has released a significant free update alongside new paid DLC content. The update introduces the Skitarii class, an Adeptus Mechanicus unit available as $11.99 DLC, bringing elite soldiers of the Machine God to the first-person action game.
The accompanying free patch (version 1.12.0) adds substantial new content. Two new enemy types have been introduced: Scab and Dreg Vanguards, human melee bruisers equipped with breakable shields designed to increase combat difficulty. The Scab variant features a more durable shield with greater longevity but appears in smaller numbers, while the Dreg variant comes in greater quantities but carries weaker, handmade shields that break more easily.
Beyond new enemies, the patch includes a comprehensive revamp of expeditions mode with fresh gameplay additions and improvements. A new limited-time event has also launched alongside these changes.
