Honkai: Nexus Anima is Hoyoverse’s take on the Pokémon formula
Hoyoverse has announced Honkai: Nexus Anima, a new creature-collecting adventure game that puts a fresh spin on the Pokémon formula. The game was first teased last summer and will enter closed beta testing next month.
The Singapore-based publisher and developer is opening registration for the “Evolution test” closed beta on July 9, with testing available on iOS, Android, and PC. This marks the second public player test for the game, following a limited “Nexus Bond Test” that ran in August and September 2025.
In Honkai: Nexus Anima, players team up and battle alongside Pokémon-like creatures called Anima. The gameplay loop mirrors the creature-collecting formula that made Pokémon a cultural phenomenon, adapted for Hoyoverse’s game development style.
Honkai: Nexus Anima will be the third title in the Honkai franchise, joining Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail. This expansion of the Honkai series demonstrates Hoyoverse’s strategy of diversifying its portfolio within established intellectual properties.
While the beta test is confirmed for July 9, Hoyoverse has not yet announced a full global launch window for the game. The multi-platform availability across mobile and PC indicates Hoyoverse’s commitment to reaching players across different hardware.
