PSA: Splatoon Raiders’ Daily Prologue Comics Start Rolling Out Today

Nintendo has launched a new daily comic series titled “Deep Cut’s Island Misadventures,” serving as a prologue to the upcoming Splatoon Raiders game. The first issue, “Crash Landing,” became available today on the Nintendo Today! app, kicking off what will be a 30-day comic rollout leading up to the game’s release on July 23rd.

The comics, which were initially announced during Nintendo’s June Direct presentation, chronicle the backstory of the character Deep Cut and their adventures on the Spirhalite Islands before the events of Splatoon Raiders. This narrative-driven marketing approach represents Nintendo’s intensified promotional efforts for the July release, alongside other upcoming titles like Star Fox and Rhythm Heaven Groove.

With the game launching in exactly one month, Nintendo is releasing one new comic issue daily through the remainder of June and into July. While the first issue appears to be brief in length, the daily release schedule creates sustained engagement with the game’s lore and characters in the weeks leading up to launch.

This promotional strategy demonstrates Nintendo’s continued use of transmedia storytelling to build anticipation for new releases, extending the game’s narrative universe across multiple platforms and formats. By offering supplementary story content through their Nintendo Today! app, the company provides fans with daily touchpoints that maintain interest and engagement during the pre-release period.
