Future of Marvel’s Blade Addressed by Todd Howard
Marvel’s Blade, in development at Arkane Studios, has remained largely silent for nearly two years since its announcement at the 2023 Game Awards. The project has been overshadowed by Marvel’s Wolverine, a PlayStation-exclusive title launching in 2026 with established marketing and gameplay footage. Recent turmoil at Microsoft fueled speculation about Blade’s status, particularly when reports suggested several Xbox developers could face closure. Arkane Lyon’s absence from this month’s Xbox Games Showcase intensified concerns that the game had been quietly cancelled amid broader organizational changes.
Bethesda Softworks boss Todd Howard has addressed these worries directly. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Howard confirmed that Arkane is “doing a really, really great job” on Marvel’s Blade, providing the first substantial public update in considerable time. His statement dismisses industry rumors of cancellation and reflects confidence in the project’s progress despite ongoing uncertainty within Microsoft’s gaming division.
The positive update carries added weight given Arkane’s prior struggles with Redfall. Howard’s endorsement suggests the studio has successfully recovered from that critical misstep and is making meaningful headway on Blade, indicating that development is actively progressing even without public visibility or marketing efforts.
