The Switch version of acclaimed James Bond game 007 First Light is “seeing really good progress” and isn’t very far away

IO Interactive’s acclaimed James Bond origin story 007 First Light, released on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation at the end of May, is making steady progress on its delayed Switch 2 port. The studio initially planned to bring the game to Nintendo’s hybrid console alongside other platforms but pushed the release to a later date to ensure optimal quality.

Though no specific launch date has been announced, IO Interactive recently provided an encouraging update through Theuns Smit, Senior Licensing Producer at the studio. Speaking to Pocket Tactics, Smit stated the Switch 2 version is “seeing really good progress” and that the team is “charging ahead” with development. The studio’s primary focus remains on optimization and performance, with the goal of delivering a version that meets both their internal quality standards and player expectations.

“We want to make sure that we give it its time in optimisation and performance, that we reach the quality that not only we desire, but that we feel our players deserve,” Smit explained. The team is targeting a release later this summer, though the exact date remains unconfirmed.
