The Studio Behind This Acclaimed PS5 Metroidvania Is Closing Its Doors

Douze Dizièmes, the French game development studio behind the PS5 Metroidvania MIO: Memories in Orbit, has announced its closure. The studio was originally a subsidiary of Focus Entertainment, which published the action game in January 2026.

Months after the game’s release, the studio’s co-founders orchestrated a buyback of their shares from Focus Entertainment, establishing the studio as fully independent. However, this independence was short-lived. According to reports from French publication Le Figaro, the co-founders subsequently laid themselves off and closed the studio entirely.

The closure has been confirmed by the gaming community on ResetEra and by French YouTuber Gautoz. The news comes as part of a broader examination of financial difficulties within the French video game industry, where multiple developers have faced significant challenges in recent times.
