Jagex confirms “landmark publishing partnerships” to bring RuneScape to Japan, South Korea, and South East Asia
Jagex, developer of the long-running MMORPG RuneScape, has announced landmark publishing partnerships to bring RuneScape: Dragonwilds to Asia-Pacific markets. The expansion targets Japan, South Korea, and South East Asia, representing what the studio describes as its “most significant international expansion” to date.
The regional launches will feature localization in Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean to better serve local player bases. Jagex has partnered with Graph, a subsidiary of Japanese publisher Active Gaming Media, to handle distribution in Japan. For South Korea and South East Asia, the company has partnered with H2 In to manage publishing operations.
These strategic partnerships reflect Jagex’s recognition that successful international expansion requires more than translation—it demands partners with deep understanding of regional gaming cultures and player preferences. By working with established local publishers, Jagex aims to ensure RuneScape: Dragonwilds resonates with Asian audiences while maintaining the game’s core identity.
The move signals Jagex’s ambition to diversify its revenue streams and player base beyond Western markets, where RuneScape has traditionally thrived. The Asia-Pacific region represents one of the world’s most significant gaming markets, with hundreds of millions of players across the target territories. This expansion demonstrates the studio’s commitment to long-term growth and global market presence.
