AI could help quadruple new game development, says Mag boss
Mag Interactive, a word and trivia game specialist, announced that artificial intelligence is significantly accelerating its game development process. According to CEO Daniel Hasselberg, the company can now test new game concepts four times faster than previously possible, marking a substantial improvement in development efficiency.
The announcement accompanied the company’s Q3 25/26 financial results, which showed net sales rising 4% year-on-year to approximately $6.75 million, with adjusted EBITDA reaching roughly $1.4 million. Hasselberg attributed the improved productivity directly to AI integration, stating that “the speed at which we can prototype, iterate and evaluate new ideas continues to improve rapidly.”
Mag Interactive currently has two games in active testing, with expectations to add three additional game concepts to testing within the coming month. This pace represents a significant acceleration—historically, the company tested five to six game concepts annually. The rapid increase in testing capacity suggests AI tools are fundamentally transforming how quickly the studio can evaluate and develop new titles, potentially allowing for more frequent releases and faster iteration cycles.
