A bunch of bugs that broke PowerToys have been squashed
PowerToys has received a critical bug-fix update, bumping the software to version 0.100.1. The patch addresses significant issues introduced in version 0.100.0, which had added new features but inadvertently broke core functionality that many users depend on.
The update resolves two major bugs. The first issue affected keyboard remapping functionality, where keys configured to map to non-modifier keys were incorrectly being delivered as system-key events. This caused unexpected behavior—for example, remapping Alt to Backspace would delete entire words instead of individual characters, significantly impacting productivity.
The second bug prevented displays from properly waking from standby mode after users selected the “On” option through Power settings. This disrupted the normal sleep-wake cycle functionality that users rely on for power management.
While routine software patches typically merit little attention, PowerToys’ importance to the Windows user community and the severity of these issues—affecting fundamental features like keyboard input and display management—made this release significant. The rapid turnaround on the fix demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to maintaining stability in this widely-used productivity tool.
