Sega is adding free Classic Sonic and Crazy Taxi DLC to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
Sega has announced two new free guest characters coming to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as part of ongoing content updates. Classic Sonic, the pixelated version from the original 8-bit and 16-bit games, is now available as a playable character for all players. The second guest character, Axel from Crazy Taxi, will arrive in August as a free addition to the racing game.
The announcement was made during an official livestream celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Sonic franchise. Notably, the version of Axel being added appears to be based on the upcoming Crazy Taxi: World Tour rather than the original game, marking the first time a character from an unreleased title has been included in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. This cross-promotion introduces players to a new Sega property currently in development.
These additions represent part of Sega’s ongoing content strategy for the game, featuring regular free character updates designed to keep the roster fresh and engage players. The inclusion of characters from outside the Sonic universe continues the game’s tradition of hosting cross-over guests alongside core Sonic characters and other licensed appearances.
