Sony Removing GTA 6 “Plays Best On PS5” Posts [UPDATED]

Sony briefly promoted Grand Theft Auto 6 as “playing best on PS5” through official social media channels, but removed most of these posts within hours of publishing them. The company had shared promotional content across YouTube, X, Instagram, Bluesky, and other platforms to accompany an original PS Blog post making the claim that the PS5 offered the optimal experience for Rockstar’s upcoming open-world title.

However, the social media posts were quickly taken down, though the original blog article remained live with identical language. The removal appeared to stem from an imagery issue rather than objection to the messaging itself—specifically, the promotional materials needed updating because GTA 6 will not feature a physical disc release, even for its physical version.

Sony subsequently republished the promotional campaign with corrected visuals displaying a PS5 console without a disc drive. The technical details about how GTA 6 leverages PS5 hardware capabilities remain accurate and unchanged. While the brief removal initially seemed noteworthy, it appears to have been a routine error correction rather than a meaningful shift in Sony’s marketing strategy.
