Primordia Developer’s New Switch Game Looks So Weird, Man

Wormwood Games’ surreal adventure game Strangeland has launched on Nintendo Switch, bringing the Wadjet Eye Games-published title to the hybrid console for the first time. Originally released on PC in May 2021, the Switch port marks the game’s console debut, expanding its audience beyond PC players.

The game is known for its distinctive H.R. Giger-inspired visual aesthetic, creating a uniquely unsettling and atmospheric experience. The Switch launch has drawn comparisons to I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, another dark adventure title that found success on Nintendo’s platform. The game provides approximately five hours of gameplay, delivering a compact yet immersive experience.

Strangeland represents another project from Wormwood Games, the studio behind Primordia, which earned a 72 on Metacritic. The PC version of Strangeland performed slightly better critically, averaging 77 on Metacritic, indicating solid reception for the bizarre adventure title.

The Switch release reflects ongoing interest in bringing independent PC adventure games to Nintendo’s platform, particularly titles with distinctive art direction and atmospheric storytelling. The port is now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop.
