Laura Bailey introduces her new Critical Role character for Daggerheart’s Age of Umbra
Critical Role is launching a new tabletop campaign on July 9 that marks a significant shift from its long-running D&D streams. Age of Umbra: Sallowlands will use Daggerheart, Critical Role’s proprietary TTRPG system designed to prioritize narrative and storytelling over traditional mechanics-heavy gameplay. Unlike Dungeons & Dragons, which balances narrative with numerical calculations, Daggerheart weaves mechanical systems directly into story moments to create more impactful dramatic experiences at the table.
Laura Bailey will join the campaign playing a new character named Dispatch. The ensemble cast includes Jennifer English and other Critical Role regulars as they guide adventurers through the corrupted, nightmarish landscape of the Halcyon Domain. This campaign represents a milestone for the media company, demonstrating how Critical Role has evolved beyond streaming published games to developing and releasing its own gaming systems and original content.
