Absolute Batman, Joker: Laugh Riot and Krypto Animated Series Announced
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation announced three new animated series at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Thursday. The lineup includes Absolute Batman, Joker: Laugh Riot, and an untitled Krypto animated series, representing the studio’s continued expansion into animated television.
Joker: Laugh Riot has been officially greenlit for production, while Absolute Batman and the Krypto series are currently in development. None of the three shows have secured broadcast or streaming networks for distribution yet.
Absolute Batman will be an adult-oriented animated series based on the award-winning and best-selling DC comic book series written by Scott Snyder with artwork by Nick Dragotta. The original comics have received critical acclaim and multiple industry awards. Scott Snyder will serve as both executive producer and showrunner for the animated adaptation, ensuring creative oversight throughout production, while artist Nick Dragotta will serve as producer.
The announcements showcase DC’s commitment to developing premium animated content featuring some of its most iconic characters and intellectual properties. With Joker: Laugh Riot already greenlit and two additional projects in development, the studio is demonstrating significant investment in adult-oriented animated television for the DC Universe.
