Video: Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Expansion New Gameplay Overview
Capcom has officially detailed Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a major expansion arriving on October 9, 2026. The expansion was revealed during a recent Capcom Spotlight presentation, where director Kento Kinoshita showcased the upcoming content.
Kinoshita, who previously directed the original Dragon’s Dogma’s Dark Arisen expansion and served as lead game designer on Dragon’s Dogma 2, outlined three primary features for the new expansion: substantial new story content, 12 new dungeon challenges, and expanded character customization options. The director emphasized that the expansion delivers “enhanced gameplay, uncharted adventures, and enticing value” to the game.
The expansion takes place in a newly discovered region called Norgan, where players track a mysterious woman as she pursues “the Fallen Dragon.” This narrative setup provides the foundation for the expansion’s story-driven content.
The announcement comes nearly two years after Dragon’s Dogma 2’s original release and represents a significant milestone for the game’s dedicated fanbase. The expansion’s confirmation addresses concerns that arose when Hideaki Itsuno, the legendary director of the original Dragon’s Dogma and Devil May Cry series, departed Capcom in 2024. Many players feared this meant Dragon’s Dogma 2 would not receive substantial post-launch support. However, the expansion’s announcement demonstrates Capcom’s continued investment in the franchise.
The expansion will be available on Switch 2 and other platforms, bringing this new content to both existing and new players. With its focus on story, challenging dungeons, and deeper character customization, Dark Arisen aims to provide substantial new experiences for Dragon’s Dogma 2 enthusiasts.
