Nightdive’s Thief remaster is adding a weapon wheel and other UI changes, ‘but we’re not forcing you to use it’
Nightdive Studios is enhancing its remaster of Thief: The Dark Project with new UI improvements, including a weapon wheel, while maintaining the classic experience. Producer Daniel Grayshon emphasized that these additions are entirely optional, allowing players to continue using the original keyboard shortcuts if they prefer. The studio has committed to preserving the core gameplay that made the original classic, with studio head Stephen Kick noting they’re actively incorporating community feedback from the remaster’s trailer.
The remaster will retain the iconic original keybinds—water arrows on 4, blackjack on 2, rope arrows on 8, and flash bomb on F6—while offering modern UI conveniences for players who want them. This approach reflects Nightdive’s philosophy of respecting the original design while providing accessibility improvements for modern players, ensuring fans of the classic stealth gameplay can enjoy it their preferred way.
