Robert Eggers’ Werwulf: First Look and Story Details Revealed for Historical Horror Movie
Director Robert Eggers is preparing his next period horror film, Werwulf, following the success of his recent reimagining of Nosferatu. Focus Features released the first production photo from the film, which tells the story of a 13th-century farmer who transforms into a werewolf.
In his first interview about the project with Esquire, Eggers discussed his vision for the werewolf narrative, emphasizing that his approach will differ significantly from previous werewolf films. The cast reunites Eggers with Nosferatu stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp; Taylor-Johnson plays the farmer protagonist, while Depp portrays his wife and mother of his children. Eggers described Depp’s character as “the heart of the movie.” Willem Dafoe also joins the cast in an unspecified role.
