Pokémon Unite adds 4 Legendary Pokémon for its 5th anniversary
The free-to-play MOBA Pokémon Unite is celebrating its fifth anniversary in July by introducing four Legendary Pokémon to its roster. The Pokémon Company will gradually roll out Yveltal, Palkia, Reshiram, and Solgaleo throughout July and August, with staggered release dates designed to keep the anniversary celebration active across both months.
Yveltal, the mascot of Pokémon Y, will debut on July 3 as the first Legendary addition. This will be followed by Palkia—the legendary featured in Pokémon Pearl and its recent remake—on July 17. The rollout continues with Reshiram, the prominent Legendary from Pokémon Black, arriving on August 7. Solgaleo, which features prominently in Pokémon Sun, will conclude the additions on August 21.
To acquire each Legendary Pokémon’s Unite license, players must participate in special in-game events tied to each release. This approach aligns with Pokémon Unite’s live-service model, where seasonal events drive engagement and provide pathways to unlock new characters.
Beyond the Legendary additions, the upcoming Battle Pass will feature Regal Style: Pikachu as its marquee reward tier. The Battle Pass system, common to free-to-play games, provides cosmetics and other rewards to players who progress through seasonal content.
The anniversary celebration underscores Pokémon Unite’s position as an ongoing live-service title, with The Pokémon Company continuing to invest in new content and features to retain its player base five years after launch.
