I picked out 31 must-play games going for $5 or less in the Steam Summer Sale
PC Gamer has curated a list of 31 must-play games available for $5 or less during Steam’s 2026 Summer Sale. The curator establishes $5 as an affordable threshold for most gamers, noting that purchasing all 31 games would total approximately $100 combined—representing exceptional value for expanding a game library. The selection spans indie games, cult classics, and essential titles across multiple genres, each personally selected by the reviewer based on quality and gameplay merit.
Among the featured titles is Divinity: Original Sin by Larian Studios, released in 2014 and currently priced at $3.99 with a PC Gamer review score of 87%. The reviewer identifies this as a landmark release in modern Larian’s development, acknowledging that while opinions vary on its comedic tone and lighter narrative style relative to other RPGs, the game maintains genre-leading turn-based combat mechanics.
The curator’s primary objective is to impose order on Steam’s massive catalog by identifying standout titles that deliver exceptional value at budget prices. The Summer Sale period presents an ideal opportunity for players to build comprehensive game libraries without substantial financial investment.
