Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Sets Fall 2026 Release With First Look at 4 New Characters
Netflix has officially announced that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the highly anticipated sequel to its acclaimed anime adaptation, will premiere in fall 2026. The announcement, made by Netflix, CD Projekt Red, and animation studio Studio Trigger, comes nearly four years after the original season aired in 2022 and one year after the sequel was first announced at Anime Expo 2025.
The announcement included a first look at four new characters joining the series. Following the events of the first season—in which few characters survived—the second season will take an anthology approach, featuring an entirely new cast of protagonists. The series continues to draw from Mike Pondsmith’s tabletop RPG universe and CD Projekt Red’s critically acclaimed 2020 video game.
The official Edgerunners social media accounts have been teasing the new characters throughout the week, with the full character artwork and release window confirmation arriving on June 28, 2026. While a more specific premiere date has not yet been provided, the fall 2026 window narrows down expectations for fans eager to return to the neon-soaked streets of Night City. The highly popular first season established the franchise as a standout example of video game adaptation, making this sequel one of the most anticipated anime releases of the year.
