Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s PS5 Pro trailer looks like YouTube fed it through a wood chipper

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s technical specifications have been revealed as the game approaches its mid-July 2026 launch. On PS5, three graphical modes—Performance, Fidelity, and Balanced—all maintain 4K resolution with ray tracing, offering frame rates from 30FPS to 60FPS. The PS5 Pro version delivers enhanced performance in these modes for the best visual experience on PlayStation hardware. Xbox Series S runs at 1620p (upscaled) resolution at 30FPS with standard ray tracing.

Ubisoft’s PS5 Pro promotional trailer has highlighted a persistent industry issue: YouTube’s video compression significantly degrades 4K game footage quality. Despite pristine source material, the trailer exhibits visible artifacts including blurred environmental details like tree leaves and sand. The protagonist Edward Kenway and focal points maintain acceptable visual quality with vivid colors and smooth frame rates, but surrounding environments suffer noticeably from compression artifacts. This raises ongoing questions about why 4K game trailers remain the industry standard for showcasing cutting-edge graphics when YouTube’s compression algorithm creates such visible degradation, undermining the visual showcase trailers are meant to provide.
