Marvel Tokon’s Deadpool Is Full Of Obscure References, Just Like You’d Hope

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, launching in August, revealed its final roster of characters at Evo 2026, including a team called the Samurai Outriders featuring Blade, Loki, Ghost Rider, and Deadpool. The Merc with a Mouth is characterized as pure chaos in the upcoming PS5 and PC fighter, with his gameplay designed around a game strategy guide from beyond the fourth wall that allows him to use attacks from other fighting games.

Deadpool’s moveset is packed with references spanning gaming history. His attacks include recognizable anime poses, such as the infamous Naruto run. Guilty Gear Strive players will also find familiar elements in his fighting style. Most notably, the character performs an aerial move while shouting “Random bullsh*t, go!"—described as one of the most insane PlayStation references in the game, executed while beating down Star-Lord.

Rather than a standard fighter adaptation, Deadpool’s role as a fourth-wall-aware character allows the developers to lean into meta-humor and cross-franchise Easter eggs, making him a walking celebration of fighting game culture and PlayStation history. Fans and fighting game enthusiasts have responded enthusiastically to these deep cuts, with the character’s reveal generating significant discussion in the community ahead of the game’s launch.
