GTA 6 Won’t Be On A Disc, Not At Launch Or Months After, Report Says
Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have definitively confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will remain a digital-only release, with no physical disc copies planned either at launch or in the months following its release. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “There are no plans for Grand Theft Auto VI discs to be printed—not at launch, and not months after.”
The clarification comes after a fan circulated a screenshot of an email from Rockstar Support suggesting physical copies would be available “during the following months,” which sparked speculation that a disc-based version might eventually release. The Hollywood Reporter verified the support email as authentic but clarified it was being misinterpreted. The agent’s reference to “physical copy” pertained to something other than a disc-based release.
While Rockstar and Take-Two had previously announced GTA 6 would be digital-only, this report firmly closes speculation about any near-term physical release, solidifying the game’s status as a digital exclusive.
