Acclaimed Spirited Away stage play is headed for America
The acclaimed Spirited Away: Live on Stage adaptation is expanding its international reach, bringing the Studio Ghibli stage play to North America. After premiering in Tokyo in 2022 and performing in London in 2024, the production will embark on a 2026-2028 world tour that marks its first North American performances.
The tour schedule includes Taiwan’s National Theater (December 2026 to January 2027), a Japan National Tour (March to August 2027), the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto (May to August 2027), the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles (September to October 2027), and the London Coliseum (March to July 2028).
The stage adaptation is renowned for its intricate theatrical craftsmanship, featuring elaborate puppetry and a ensemble cast of 50 actors who recreate the beloved anime film’s fantastical world and characters on stage. The production continues to expand its global audience following successful runs in Japan and the United Kingdom. Cast assignments for the North American leg have not yet been announced.
