UFL Developer Strikerz Lays Off More Than Half The Company

UFL developer Strikerz has announced mass layoffs, reducing its workforce from 450 to over 200 employees, according to Russian media outlet App2Top. The layoffs affect more than half of the studio’s staff as the football simulation game has failed to achieve the commercial success the developer anticipated following its launch.

According to sources cited by App2Top, underlying problems at the studio had been mounting for some time. The final catalyst for the mass redundancies was a failed attempt to secure a licensing deal with FIFA. Strikerz had planned to leverage the partnership for a major event tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but the agreement fell through, forcing the studio to abandon those plans entirely.

Affected employees have begun communicating with the company’s HR department regarding next steps and severance arrangements. The layoffs represent a significant setback for Strikerz, which has struggled to build a player base competitive with established football simulation franchises in the live-service gaming market.
