One of Switch’s best puzzle games, Suika Game, is getting a PC release soon
Suika Game, one of the most popular puzzlers on Nintendo Switch, is heading to PC via Steam. Also known as Watermelon Game, it was developed by Aladdin X and originally launched in Japan in late 2021 before expanding to international markets in 2023. It has since become a global phenomenon, reaching Android and iOS platforms.
The indie puzzle game has achieved remarkable commercial success, becoming one of the best-selling Switch titles—outperforming major franchises like Minecraft and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. By April 2024, Suika Game had accumulated over 7.4 million downloads on Nintendo Switch, despite its modest £2.69 price point. The game’s simple yet addictive mechanics center around combining watermelon-themed items in a physics-based puzzle format.
Since its initial release, the game has expanded with multiplayer DLC featuring online competitive features and leaderboards. The Steam release represents another major milestone for this indie success story, potentially bringing the game to millions of PC gamers and further cementing its status as one of the most significant indie puzzle games of recent years.
