Bananya and Crunchyroll Are Celebrating the Franchise’s 10th Anniversary With a New Mobile Game and Anime Special - Exclusive
Bananya is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a dual entertainment release. The franchise will debut a new mobile game called Bananya Buddies this summer, exclusively on Crunchyroll Game Vault. The game marks the first original title for the platform and is developed by independent studio The MIX while being published by Crunchyroll and TMS.
Bananya Buddies is designed as a cat-collecting game that delivers the franchise’s appeal through a “cute, cozy package” experience. Players will engage with mini-games, earn rewards, and customize their own Bananya hangout space, allowing for personalization and community building within the game.
Beyond gaming, the anniversary celebration extends to anime. A new Bananya anime special will premiere at Anime Expo on July 4, 2026, before streaming on Crunchyroll starting July 9. This multimedia approach reflects the franchise’s expansion across entertainment mediums and Crunchyroll’s growing investment in gaming as both a content distributor and publisher.
