Hyperkin’s Drakong Goes Super-Cheap With a New Pro-Style Xbox Controller
Hyperkin’s gaming peripheral sub-brand Drakong has launched The Challenger, a new Xbox and PC controller priced at just $35. Despite its aggressive budget positioning, the controller features specifications typically found in premium pro-style alternatives, making it a competitive value proposition in the gaming controller market.
The Challenger includes dual hall effect analog sticks and hall effect analog triggers, technologies that provide improved precision and durability compared to traditional mechanical switches. The controller also features two programmable back buttons for customization and accessibility, along with haptic feedback for immersive game feedback. Additional amenities include textured grips for improved ergonomics and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom edge. The package includes a 10-foot USB-C cable.
At $35, The Challenger undercuts most pro-style controllers, which typically retail for $60-$150, by a significant margin. The combination of hall effect inputs, programmable buttons, and haptic feedback at this price point positions the controller as an attractive option for budget-conscious gamers, competitive players seeking affordable alternatives, and those looking for performance-oriented features without premium pricing.
