Fortnite’s Player Count Is Way Up In Chapter 7 Season 3, And Here’s Why
Fortnite has experienced a substantial surge in players with the launch of Chapter 7 Season 3 in early June, following a sluggish start to the chapter in December. According to data aggregated by fortnite.gg, the average number of concurrent Battle Royale players nearly doubled month-over-month, rising from approximately 228,000 in May to over 433,000 in June.
The dramatic increase in engagement appears to be driven primarily by Season 3’s new brainrot-inspired sprite-collection gameplay mechanic. This seasonal content update has proven remarkably effective at attracting and retaining players, delivering results comparable to Fortnite’s Simpsons-themed season in November, which saw player counts surge from 225,000 to 480,000.
The growth trajectory suggests that while Season 3’s player bump is somewhat smaller than the Simpsons crossover event, it represents a strong recovery from Chapter 7’s slower December launch. The sustained engagement demonstrates that targeted seasonal content and themed gameplay mechanics continue to be key drivers for the battle royale title, validating Epic Games’ live-service strategy of regular content updates and collaborative crossovers.
