Guns of Eschaton Reveal Uncovers Souls-Like Apocalyptic FPS Set in the ‘Dying West’
Guns of Eschaton, billed as the world’s first Souls-like first-person shooter, has been officially unveiled by developer Eschatology Entertainment and publisher 4Divinity. The game represents the final project of renowned art director Viktor Antonov, who passed away in early 2025 at age 52.
Set in a supernatural reimagining of the American frontier, Guns of Eschaton blends grimdark Western aesthetics with Soulslike difficulty and strategic gameplay. Players assume the role of a six-armed gunslinger traversing a dying America from the West Coast to the East Coast, encountering grotesque enemies and reality-warping bosses inspired by historical figures and legends of the Old West. The game’s visual design unmistakably bears Antonov’s artistic signature—the bold, distinctive aesthetic that defined his celebrated work on Half-Life 2, Dishonored, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and Weird West.
Gameplay combines gunplay-focused combat with Soulslike mechanics featuring punishing difficulty, exploration, and challenging boss encounters. The game supports co-op play with full progression. Players must study enemy weaknesses to overcome nightmarish abominations equipped with freakish strength, unfair tactics, and reality-warping powers.
Guns of Eschaton is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, with the game available for wishlisting. The official announcement occurred on June 30, 2026, showcasing the game’s atmospheric aesthetics and innovative gameplay through a reveal trailer.
