Backyard Baseball Will Feature Trading Cards Designed By Independent Artists—Insider Access
Backyard Baseball will launch on PC via Steam on July 9 with a trading card system designed to evoke the nostalgia of collecting physical baseball cards. The game will feature a token reward mechanic that lets players earn and collect cards, recreating the experience of purchasing packs and hoping to pull rare or valuable cards.
The trading cards will be illustrated with hand-drawn artwork created by independent artists, giving each card a unique, personalized aesthetic rather than standard digital designs. This approach emphasizes artistic creativity and celebrates individual talent within the gaming community.
The feature was exclusively revealed through Insider Gaming’s Insider Access series, following weeks of social media teases from the Backyard Sports team. The trading card system appears to be a central gameplay element, bridging the appeal of traditional card collecting with a digital format.
