Diablo 4’s Worst Grind Just Got A Lot Easier In Season 14

Diablo 4’s Season 14 brings quality-of-life improvements to the endgame gem-grinding experience, making one of the game’s most notorious time sinks considerably less painful. Blizzard introduced significant changes to gems and conversion recipes in response to player feedback about repetitive farming.

The Lord of Hatred expansion previously added two new gem tiers—Horadric and Flawless Horadric Gems—that significantly outperform their lower-tier counterparts. However, these powerful gems could not be obtained through natural drops, forcing players to craft them exclusively using the Horadric Cube’s Amalgamation recipe. The recipe required five Grand Gems to create one Horadric Gem, and five Horadric Gems to create one Flawless Horadric Gem, creating a lengthy and tedious progression path.

During Season 13, this bottleneck led players to repeatedly farm the Seer’s Reach dungeon for extended periods, as it was one of the best sources for acquiring the gems needed to begin the conversion chain. This repetitive grind became notorious within the community as a significant barrier to endgame progression.

Season 14’s adjustments to these recipes aim to streamline the gem acquisition process, reducing the monotony of farming while maintaining the progression system’s integrity. The changes appear designed to preserve the craftable gem economy while making the path to obtaining high-tier gems less exhausting, allowing players to progress toward endgame content and activities more efficiently.
