One talented modder spent 6 months building the biggest Halo 3 multiplayer mod ever, and it’s absolutely incredible on PC
A modder known as RejectedShotgun has completed development of Permafrost, described as the largest Halo 3 multiplayer mod ever created. The project took six months to develop and introduces ambitious new features including AI-controlled combat, dynamic objectives, and progressively evolving battles that keep matches fresh and challenging.
The mod is available exclusively on PC through Steam Workshop for Halo 3 on Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and is not compatible with console versions. RejectedShotgun has built a reputation in the Halo modding community for pushing creative boundaries, having previously created mods featuring over 20 vehicles, new weapons systems, and enhanced forge functionality that many believed were technically impossible.
Permafrost represents a significant achievement in community modding, demonstrating how dedicated creators continue to expand and refresh aging titles long after original development has concluded. The mod’s availability on Steam Workshop makes it easily accessible to the broader Halo player base on PC, potentially offering a substantial new gameplay experience for the 2007 title.
