Next Metroid Game for Switch 2 Reportedly Leaked in Age Rating From Brazilian Government
A new Metroid game titled Metroid Ravenous has been leaked through Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security age-rating documentation. The rating filing, discovered on July 1 and quickly removed, was captured in screenshots that rapidly spread across gaming forums and social media. Filed by Nintendo of America, the document indicates the game is currently in production for a 2026 release on Nintendo Switch 2.
The game has been assigned a 12+ age rating due to violence, including depictions of weapons, blood, and death. Brazilian journalist Necro Felipe Lima noted that the rating assessment was based on approximately 41 minutes of gameplay footage. While the document’s authenticity remains unconfirmed pending an official Nintendo announcement, the leak represents a significant development for the franchise.
The discovery is particularly noteworthy given the extended gap in the series’ release cycle. Following the 2010 release of Metroid: Other M, fans waited 11 years until Metroid Dread launched in 2021. The reported 2026 release window for Metroid Ravenous would represent a more aggressive development and release schedule for the franchise, suggesting Nintendo’s renewed commitment to the series. However, details about the game’s genre, gameplay mechanics, and whether it represents a 2D or 3D entry remain unknown, adding to the intrigue surrounding this accidental revelation.
