PlayStation Plus Free Games For July 2026 Revealed

Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus Essential games for July 2026, available to claim from July 7 through August 3. The lineup includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Cross-Gen Bundle), For the King 2, and CrossCode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the standout title this month. The 2023 entry in the long-running franchise was originally designed as an expansion pack for 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 but was eventually released as a full standalone title as part of Activision’s annual release strategy—an approach the publisher has now discontinued. The game follows Task Force 141 attempting to prevent World War III.

However, despite being a major release, Modern Warfare 3 received poor critical reception. IGN scored its single-player campaign at just 4/10, criticizing it as “underbaked, rehashed, and cobbled together from multiplayer parts.” Both players and critics particularly disparaged the campaign experience.

The timing of this inclusion is notable, coming shortly after Sony announced it will cease physical disc releases for games launching after January 28—a decision that sparked significant discussion in the gaming community. The substantial Call of Duty release appears designed to offset potential disappointment from the physical media announcement.

Joining Modern Warfare 3 in July’s lineup are For the King 2 and CrossCode. Players should remember to claim June’s PlayStation Plus offerings before July 7, when this month’s games become available.
