Ubisoft appoints former 2K and Amazon exec Christoph Hartmann to lead Creative House 2, overseeing Splinter Cell, The Division and Ghost Recon

Ubisoft has appointed Christoph Hartmann as General Manager of Creative House 2, a newly-formed business unit established as part of the publisher’s restructuring into five dedicated creative houses. Hartmann is an industry veteran who co-founded and previously led 2K Games at Take-Two, where he oversaw franchises including Borderlands and BioShock until 2017. He most recently headed Amazon’s games business before departing in January.

Creative House 2 will oversee major franchises focused on competitive and cooperative shooter experiences, including Splinter Cell, The Division, and Ghost Recon. The business unit will also house March of Giants, a MOBA that Ubisoft recently acquired.

Hartmann’s extensive background in game publishing and development, combined with his track record managing large multiplayer and competitive titles, positions him to lead this portfolio. The appointment represents a key leadership change as part of Ubisoft’s broader organizational restructuring.

The restructuring reflects Ubisoft’s effort to modernize its operating model by consolidating related franchises under dedicated creative houses with specialized leadership. This approach aims to improve creative direction and operational efficiency while streamlining decision-making across the publisher’s major properties. The appointment signals Ubisoft’s commitment to strengthening leadership within key franchises as the company navigates ongoing industry challenges.
