Valheim will get a 50% price hike when it hits 1.0, and no changes to the ocean biome
Valheim will officially reach version 1.0 on September 9 after over five years in early access. Developer Iron Gate has announced the Viking-themed survival crafting game will increase in price from $20 to $30 at launch—a 50% price hike that has prompted the community to purchase the game before the deadline at its current lower price.
The 1.0 release will introduce a new ice-themed biome called the Deep North as its primary new content addition. The existing ocean biome will not receive updates alongside this launch, contrary to some community speculation.
Iron Gate has provided unclear guidance on post-launch support. While the developer confirmed it will continue releasing bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, the studio has declined to commit to a specific long-term update schedule or confirm whether major content additions will continue beyond 1.0. The ambiguous outlook leaves players uncertain about Valheim’s future development trajectory following its full release.
