Attack on Titan game from Koei Tecmo announces opening cinematic by MAPPA
Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force have announced Attack on Titan 3, the next major installment in their game series adaptation of the acclaimed manga. During a 45-minute presentation on July 1, following the game’s initial reveal at Summer Game Fest 2026, the studio unveiled substantial details about the upcoming release.
The most significant change from previous entries is the scope: Attack on Titan 3 will adapt the complete manga story from beginning to end, rather than covering only select segments like the first two games (released in 2016 and 2018). The narrative will mirror the anime adaptation, providing a comprehensive experience of the full storyline.
Mechanically, the franchise is taking a major step forward with the introduction of an open world map—a new feature for the series that represents a meaningful evolution in gameplay design. A gameplay trailer showcased these new systems in action, demonstrating how the expanded scope translates into player experience.
The opening cinematic will be produced by MAPPA, the respected animation studio known for work on the Attack on Titan anime. Attack on Titan 3 is scheduled to launch this Winter on PS5.
