Seoul-set MMO shooter Cinder City halves its RAM requirements, after initial specs listed 64GB of memory
Cinder City, an upcoming Seoul-set tactical shooter MMO from publisher NC (formerly NCsoft), adjusted its system requirements after receiving criticism for unusually high RAM specifications. The game’s initial Steam page listing specified 32GB minimum and 64GB recommended memory—roughly double the typical demands of modern AAA 3D games.
Following industry attention and publisher inquiry, NC revised these requirements downward by approximately half. The correction addressed widespread concerns about accessibility for mainstream gaming systems, as such demanding specifications could have significantly limited the addressable market for a competitive online shooter.
The incident illustrates the importance of accurate system requirements communication for game launches, particularly for live-service titles where initial player adoption drives long-term success. NC’s response to publicly highlighted concerns demonstrates publisher awareness of market expectations, though final specifications may still be subject to further refinement during development.
