Dragon Strikers gets surprise season 2 2027 release date by Disney Plus
Dragon Striker, a 2D animated fantasy sports series, quietly premiered on Disney Plus in June 2026 with minimal marketing. Produced by Paris-based Chouette Studios, the show blends Eastern and Western storytelling sensibilities and has drawn critical acclaim despite its low-profile launch. The series draws comparisons to acclaimed works like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Harry Potter, and My Hero Academia, while incorporating competitive sports themes reminiscent of global soccer enthusiasm.
Despite limited promotional visibility among mainstream audiences, the series has resonated strongly with viewers who discovered it. Disney announced at the 2026 Anime Expo that the show has been renewed for Season 2, with a 2027 release date. The surprise renewal demonstrates Disney’s confidence in the series’ potential for growth through word-of-mouth and fan communities, even without aggressive marketing support.
