Metroid Ravenous Listing Sparks Speculation About Nintendo’s Next Game

Metroid Ravenous has been revealed as Nintendo’s next entry in the Metroid franchise, following the 2024 release of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The game’s existence surfaced through a leak from Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security ratings board, which subsequently removed the listing.

According to the leaked submission, development is underway with a production start date of 2026 marked for the US market. The rating information indicates the game will feature violence including weapons, blood, and death, alongside light sexual content.

While official details remain scarce, industry speculation suggests Metroid Ravenous could be a sequel to 2021’s Metroid Dread, the side-scrolling adventure developed by MercurySteam. That title marked a significant revival of the franchise’s 2D line following years of emphasis on the first-person Prime subseries.

The leak provides the first official confirmation of Nintendo’s post-Prime 4 plans for the Metroid franchise, though the company has not yet made any formal announcement regarding the game’s platform, release window, or narrative connection to previous entries.
