Microsoft Copilot OS revealed in LEAKED video: Lightweight Windows OS exploration features new desktop UI built entirely around Copilot and agentic AI

Microsoft has explored the creation of a dedicated AI-focused operating system, as revealed in a leaked 3-minute video that circulated on Discord. The project, codenamed Aion, was built on a lightweight Windows codebase called Win3 and utilized Microsoft Edge and web-based technologies as its foundation.

The leaked video showcases an early but apparently functional build of a new desktop user interface designed entirely around Copilot and agentic AI capabilities. The interface features a redesigned Taskbar and a Copilot-powered Start menu replacement, suggesting deep integration of AI assistance throughout the system.

According to the video’s description, “Aion is an example of a web-based agent OS that natively builds Copilot into the core of the shell,” highlighting the company’s vision for placing conversational AI at the center of the operating system experience. The exploration appears to have been an internal research project investigating how a lightweight, web-based OS architecture could support next-generation AI-powered user interactions.

While this appears to be a concept exploration rather than an announced product, the leak provides insight into Microsoft’s internal thinking about the future of operating systems and the potential role of AI assistants in reimagining how users interact with their computers.
